Man shot by police is still critical

The 37-year-old man shot more than 20 times by 14 Metro Police officers Thursday night remained in critical condition this morning.
The names of the officers were also released this morning. The officers were identified as patrol Officers Eric Barros, 35, Christopher O'Brien, 36, Gregory Watkins, 28, Paul McCullough, 29, William Pollock 41, Jason Jennings, 27, Jason Hanson, 25, and Ryan Buff, 24 and traffic Officer Tony McCleery, 45,
Repeat Offender Program Sgt. Clint Robison, 42, and detectives Joseph Herring, 25, and Todd Richter, 27 and property crimes detectives Brian Debecker, 29, and Richard Lanave, 34, also were identified as officers who fired.
Harry Kondiles, a seven-time convicted felon who uses the street name "H Bomb," was listed in critical condition this morning at University Medical Center after Metro officers fired dozens of shots at him in two locations Thursday in a shootout.
Kondiles is accused of shooting at the officers several times, but no officers were injured.
The officers all are on administrative leave pending an investigation.
The repeat offenders detectives had been searching for Kondiles for the past three weeks to arrest him on 17 outstanding warrants, including one charging him with shooting a man in the ear, Lt. Jim Moses, commander of the repeat offenders program, said.
The detectives were watching a house near Gowan Road and Buffalo Drive for hours when about 11:30 p.m. Thursday they spotted Kondiles pull up in a Mazda RX-7. The detectives pulled their cars to block him in and went in to arrest him.
Police said Kondiles then rammed the unmarked police cars to escape and reached for a gun in the car.
Three repeat offender program detectives fired at Kondiles, police said.
Other detectives and patrol officers chased Kondiles as he drove around northwest streets, including Buffalo and Rancho drives and Rainbow Boulevard. He crashed his black Mazda into a block wall at Rainbow and U.S. 95, police said.
Kondiles is accused of shooting at pursuing patrol officers during the 20-minute high-speed chase before he crashed.
Officers surrounded the car, and as they approached, police said, Kondiles fired more shots.
