CARSON CITY -- The Nevada Supreme Court Wednesday retracted previous criticism of District Judge Brent Adams of Reno, who was accused of failing to twice follow court directives.
The court, in an order July 26, said it was "disturbed" that Adams did not comply with orders issued March 2 and June 4 to make a final written decision in the case of Richard Borg, who was sentenced to up to six years in prison for his guilty plea on two counts of making a bomb threat.
After his conviction, Borg appealed, saying his lawyer was ineffective. Judge Adams rejected three of the four allegations made against the attorney for Borg. But the Supreme Court said Adams did not issue a ruling that cited on what grounds the allegations were being dismissed.
The court on Wednesday said Adams filed an affidavit demonstrating that he did comply with the court's order on March 15. On that date, Adams filed specific findings of fact and conclusions of law that the Supreme Court asked for.
The Supreme Court said the order signed by Adams was never transmitted to the court by the Washoe County Clerk's Office.
