Letter: U.S. abdicates role in Mideast
Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001 | 9:41 a.m.
Since it appears that the Bush administration has abdicated the United States' role as peacemaker in the Mideast, the king of Jordan and Russia's President Putin seem to be filling the breach lately with their meeting in Moscow.
Of course, that is probably OK with President Bush, since he looked in Putin's eyes and saw the soul of a good man.
It is probably heresy to say it, but I think Israel is equally responsible for the violence there. Tanks and guided missiles against sling shots? Give me a break!
