The vice president of flight operations for Southwest Airlines reiterated today that a study is under way for a new pilot and flight attendant base and Las Vegas is one of the cities under consideration for it.
Greg Crum, who told a meeting of Las Vegas Southwest employees several days ago that Las Vegas is one of the cities being studied, said today the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association is conducting the study and works with the company to determine the best locations for crew bases.
Wayne Stamps, vice president of the union, said last week that Las Vegas is among five cities under consideration for a base, which could boost the city's economy because of the high salaries pilots make and because it could nearly double the number of Southwest employees living in the city.
