Family Home Hospice offering training
Family Home Hospice is offering volunteer training in September on the following days and times: 1-5 p.m. on Sept. 3, 4, 10 and 11 and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 8.
A different topic will be covered each session, and participants must attend each session.
Hospice volunteers provide emotional support to terminally ill patients, respite to caregivers, errand running, companionship and socialization for patients and caregivers, office help and assistance with the hospice's bereavement program.

5k, 1-mile events scheduled Saturday
The Las Vegas Running Team will host "A Million to One" 5k run and 1-mile walk 7 a.m. Saturday at Saturn of Henderson in the Valley Auto Mall.
Day-of-race registration will begin 5:30 a.m. and a warm-up and stretch session with Zoe Albright and disc jockey Karly Karl will begin at 6:45 a.m. Register online at www.active.com or pre-register 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday at Saturn of Henderson.

Community Schools' program is Saturday
The Las Vegas Community Schools' second annual Hip Hop Festival will be 5-9 p.m. Saturday at the Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza, 3333 W. Washington Ave.
The event will include talent from Las Vegas, Detroit, California and New York, live entertainment, food, dancing, open microphone, prizes and more.
