Louis A. Anton

Louis A. Anton, 87, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1914, in Aromas, Calif. A resident for 56 years, he retired as superintendent of the Las Vegas Public Works Department after 40 years, was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, a member of Optimist International, Southern Nevada Officials Association, Order of Sparta, San Jose State Athletic Department and Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association.

He is survived by two daughters, Terry Locke-Paddon of Aptos, Calif., and Pamela Anton of Las Vegas; one brother, Henry Anton of New Orleans; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Wednesday with a 6:30 p.m. service in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Church services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive. Burial will follow at noon Thursday in Palm Memorial Park.

The family suggests donations to the Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas, P.O. Box 26689, Las Vegas, NV 89126.

Blanche Winifred Beatty

Blanche Winifred Beatty, 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Greenville, Pa. A resident for 40 years, she was a retired head pantry worker for the Hilton and Riviera hotels.

She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn L. Kelly of Las Vegas; one son, Robert D. Beatty of Arvada, Colo.; six sisters, Virginia Horton of Conneaut, Pa., June Fry and Kathryn Foulk, both of Greenville, Dorothy Adams of Conneaut Lake, Pa., Rose Kenjivari of Youngstown, Ohio, and Helen Morre of Grove City, Ga.; one brother, John Campbell of Greenville; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today and 8-10 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Doris Jean Duchene

Doris Jean Duchene, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born June 3, 1926, in Detroit. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Don L. Sr.; one son, Don L. Duchene Jr. of Islamorada, Fla.; one daughter, Barbara Ann Duchene of Naples, Fla.; one brother, Ernest Nicolay of Farmington Hills, Mich.; one sister, Joanne Nicolay of Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.; and two grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the Southern Nevada Alzheimer's Association, 913 E. Ogden St., Las Vegas, NV 89101.

Mary McConnell

Mary McConnell, 49, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 29, 1951, in Kalamazoo, Mich. A resident for 10 years, she was a hospital registered nurse.

She is survived by her husband, Ray; two stepdaughters, Kathleen Marcus and Karen Williams, both of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Carl Durbin of Dayton, Ohio, and Steve Durbin of Buffalo, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 8901 Del Webb Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, 6370 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 1, Las Vegas, NV 89103, or St. Andrew's Church.

Anne Englehart Sobo

Anne Englehart Sobo, 77, of Phoenix died Saturday in Phoenix. A former Las Vegas resident, she was born Feb.W 28, 1924, in Cleveland.

She is survived by one son, Ernest Englehart of Phoenix.

No local services are scheduled. Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, Cleveland Heights, Ohio, is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Robert L. West Sr.

Robert L. West Sr., 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born June 21, 1920, in Loma Linda, Calif. A resident for 46 years, he was a police officer for 22 years in Las Vegas, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Elks Lodge 1468 and past officer of American Legion Post 55.

He is survived by four sons, Robert West II, Richard West, Ronald West and Russell West; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Jones. Graveside services will be private. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the National Foundation of the Elks.
