Man charged in teen's death
A 21-year-old Las Vegas man was arrested Thursday in connection with the April slaying of a 17-year-old girl whose body was found in Henderson.
John Giebler was booked into the Henderson jail Thursday on charges of murder, kidnapping with intent to commit murder and burglary while in possession of a firearm, Henderson Police said.
Amanda Harkness' body was found April 17 in the area of Warm Springs and McCormick roads, police said.
Police obtained a search warrant and searched Giebler's home. He was arrested without incident, police said.
Sting to check on drinks served
Undercover sting operations are going to be conducted at bars in Nevada to make sure they are serving their customers what was ordered and not some less expensive liquor brand, Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa said Thursday.
"It has been reported that the practice of substituting another brand other than the one ordered by the consumer may be a recurring problem in some Nevada establishments," Del Papa said.
She said her office will work with the Nevada District Attorneys Association and local law enforcement in checking to see that bars and taverns comply with the state's "Truth in Serving" law.
