Letter: Negligence of parents isn’t taken seriously
Friday, Aug. 24, 2001 | 10:06 a.m.
More children have died because another mother left her children in an unsupervised car.
Our district attorney won't prosecute this woman, either, but he certainly has opened the door to allowing people to be both negligent and homicidal.
Involuntary manslaughter laws exist in this state, but obviously not in the mind of our district attorney.
Accidents happen, but negligence is not an accident. Leaving children locked in cars by themselves is no accident.
People go to jail all of the time for accidents, but in Las Vegas no parent will ever be tried for murdering their children by leaving them unattended in a car.
This is too bad for the children of Las Vegas. This is horrible.
