Goossen out at America Presents

Boxing promoter Dan Goossen, synonymous with the America Presents firm he co-founded in 1996, has been forced out as president and chief operating officer.
The move took place Thursday, corresponding with a Sun story that detailed the company's recent problems with each of its most prominent fighters.
Goossen, 51, said this morning he was taking part in a conference call of some importance to him and that he would not be available for comment until later in the day.
His departure from America Presents comes after company owner Mat Tinley admitted to some dissastisfaction with the Las Vegas and Denver-based organization.
"I had a vision for America Presents, but somewhere it became blurred and lost," Tinley said. "It's time to get it back. Now that Dan has resigned, it's time to move on."
Goossen's "resignation" was unexpected but comes on the heels of a critical loss by heavyweight contender David Tua (to Chris Byrd) last Saturday at the Cox Pavilion.
In addition, each of America Presents' other notable fighters has had career-interrupting setbacks of late..
It is expected that Dan Goossen's son, Craig, who also has been working for America Presents, will resign and remain with his father in a joint attempt to seek further employment within the sport.
