The Maureen Dowd column in the Aug. 20 Sun certainly sent a chill up my spine and sadness to my spirit.

If CNN, under new president Walter Isaacson, will do anything to pander to the political right, then the ideal of an independent, impartial, fact-finding press will continue moving on to extinction.

Who cares if Fox News has higher ratings than CNN? Why is that more important than quality, objective journalism? If one has to improve ratings, is the only answer Rush Limbaugh? And the less I see of Tom DeLay on TV, the better I like it. Sure they have something to say, but their viewpoint is not the only viewpoint. The hypocritical "right" not only wants to state its views, it wants to ridicule and stifle any opposing opinions.

I hope CNN doesn't take this "conservative" leap. If they do they can change their name to Caring Nothing about News.
