Hispanic Broadcasting Corp., which already operates two Las Vegas radio stations, has acquired the signal of a third local station that plans to hit the airwaves in the first quarter of 2002.
The Dallas-based broadcasting company, which operates 48 stations across the country, said it agreed to pay $16 million to acquire the signal of KPXC-FM from Claire Berezna. The Hispanic-formatted station will be on 99.3 FM.
In Las Vegas, Hispanic Broadcasting already operates 103.5 KISF-FM, a Mexican regional station, and 870 KLSQ-AM, a Hispanic oldies station.
The new station will employ about six to eight people, said Dana Demerjian, Hispanic Broadcasting vice president.
