Bail set at $250,000 in mutiliation death

A $250,000 bail has been set for a Panaca woman suspected in the sexual mutilation slaying of a Las Vegas man.
Kirstin Lobato has been held without bail in the Clark County Detention Center since her arrest on July 20 in the death of Duran Bailey, 44.
Lobato told police that Bailey attacked her on July 8 and she cut his genitals as he was trying to sexually assault her.
The 18-year-old was arrested on a murder charge, however, because an autopsy revealed Bailey died of a fractured skull and severed carotid artery. Doctors believe he was mutilated after death.
On Tuesday Special Public Defender Phil Kohn asked District Judge Valorie Vega to set Lobato's bail at $30,000 and place her on house arrest, saying Bailey was a suspect in an earlier sexual assault case.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Eric Jorgenson argued for the bail to be set at $100,000, pointing out the discrepancies in Lobato's statement and the physical evidence found at the crime scene.
