A 34-year-old man is in stable condition at University Medical Center after falling about 50 feet while hiking in the Valley of Fire State Park Tuesday afternoon.
The hiker was hoisted out on a cable lowered from a Metro Police search and rescue helicopter, Officer Jim Mitchell said.
"Two hikers had gotten back into a pretty inaccessible area, and we had to hover the helicopter down between some tricky rock formations to get to them," Mitchell said.
