Identity of woman sought
Metro Police homicide detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman found shot to death and burned near Moapa.
The woman was found off State Route 168 west of Interstate 15 40 miles north of Las Vegas Saturday morning.
The woman is described as white, in her 30s or older, about 5 feet tall, 90 to 100 pounds with strawberry blonde hair. She was also wearing four rings.
Anyone with information about the identity of the victim or this crime is asked to call detectives at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
Henderson, NLV get federal help
Henderson and North Las Vegas will receive federal funds to help pay for land and water conservation projects.
Henderson will get $150,000 to create a 2.8-acre public demonstration garden with interpretive trails, benches, signs, drinking water fountains in Acacia Park.
North Las Vegas will get 75,000 to renovate the Cheyenne Sports Complex. The money will go toward renovating two parking areas and upgrading a walkway to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and building codes.
Teen suspect found, released
A Las Vegas teen sought in connection with a stabbing death of a 20-year-old man Wednesday night was found and later released, Metro Police said.
Witnesses told police the 15-year-old boy stabbed Joseph D. Roberson once in the chest Wednesday about 8:15 p.m. in the 5200 block of Jewel Canyon Drive near Tropicana Avenue.
Roberson and two other men had gone to a house where the teen was visiting. The three pushed their way into the house, and Roberson confronted the boy, police said.
The boy told police Roberson swung at him, and the stabbing followed, police said.
The boy, who had previously called his mother to pick him up, left in his mother's car when she arrived, police said.
The case will be submitted to the Clark County district attorney's office for review for any criminal charges, police said.
