Heller names new deputy
Secretary of State Dean Heller Tuesday named Pamela Ashworth as deputy secretary of state in the Las Vegas office.
Ashworth, who has been public information officer for the office since January 2000, will earn $73,289 in the newly created position.
Renee Lacey, chief deputy secretary of state, said Ashworth would handle the administrative functions of the Las Vegas office.
Prior to joining the state, Ashworth was director of education for the Nevada Hotel & Motel Association and the Nevada Restaurant Association.
Woman named to lead division
A Wyoming woman will take over Sept. 10 as administrator of the state Division of Museums and History.
Marcia Wolter Britton, who has been education chairwoman of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyo., succeeds Ken Rohrs in the $73,750-a-year job. Rohrs resigned to join the state attorney general's office as executive director of the Nevada Advisory Council for Prosecuting Attorneys.
TV veteran Castaldi named
Longtime television newswoman Gwen Castaldi on Tuesday was named Clark County's new director of public communications, replacing Doug Bradford.
Castaldi, who according to the county will earn about $99,500 a year, owns the media company Eyespeakmedia Inc., which specializes in communications and media training. She has also worked as news director for KVVU Channel 5 and as a reporter and producer for KVBC Channel 3. Castaldi previously worked at KLAS Channel 8 and KTNV Channel 13.
Bradford, who was told he would be replaced when Thom Reilly became county manager last month, is considering other public information positions within the county.
