Museum to take a short break
The Thunderbirds Museum, containing information and memorabilia of the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, based at Nellis Air Force Base, will be closed Aug. 21-24 for the team's mid-season break.
In addition, regularly scheduled tours 2 p.m. Aug. 21 and 23 will not be held. Public tours at 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays will resume Aug. 28. Those wanting to take the tours can meet at 1:30 p.m. those days at the visitors center at Nellis' Main Gate, at Craig Road and Las Vegas Boulevard North, to obtain a base pass.

BLM will hold adoption clinics
The federal Bureau of Land Management is holding free clinics to educate people who want to adopt wild horses or burros at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sept. 1 and 15 at Intermountain Farmers Association, 3176 W. Martin Ave., near Industrial and Sunset roads.
A wild horse and burro show, Oct. 6 at 8 a.m. at Horseman's Park, 5800 E. Flamingo Road, will illustrate what a trained wild horse or burro can do. Animals will compete in 30 classes. Registration is $7 per class, plus a grounds fee. Stables are available, with advanced notice, Oct. 5-7.
Wild horses and burros will be offered for adoption Oct. 7 at Horseman's Park, with viewing beginning at 9 a.m. and bidding at 10. Base price is $125 per animal.
