Wade Hampton Beck

Wade Hampton Beck, 87, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born Aug. 30, 1913, in San Antonio. A resident for 16 years, he was a civilian aircraft supervisor for the Air Force and a member of the Masons in San Antonio.

He is survived by one daughter, Chrystal Thomas, and one son, Wade H. Beck Jr., both of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Graveside services will be 8:30 a.m. Monday in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Douglas Ernest 'Shorty' Blanchard

Douglas Ernest "Shorty" Blanchard, 75, of Pahrump died Tuesday in Pahrump. He was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Minnesota. A resident for 18 years, he was an operating engineer at the Nevada Test Site for 10 years and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Bernadette and Bonita, both of California; one son, Timothy of Pahrump; one brother, Charles of Minnesota; and two sisters, Lois Florhaug of Minnesota and Lola Brinkhaus of California; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be one hour prior to a 1 p.m. service Sunday in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 2240 E. Calvada Blvd.

Stewart William Brown

Stewart William Brown, 44, of Las Vegas died Tuesday. A super in the baccarat pit at Paris Las Vegas and a 1975 graduate of Vo-Tech High School, he was born Dec. 14, 1956, in Kansas.

He is survived by one son, Blaine Charles Brown; his father, Col. William Arthur Brown; one brother, Roger Brown; and two sisters, Linda Tobin and Nancy Stokes.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Linda Lou Dauphin

Linda Lou Dauphin, 48, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 12, 1952, in Long Beach, Calif. A resident for six years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, George; one son, Travis Dauphin, and two daughters, Shannon Dauphin and Tarin Guinn, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Dorinda Martin of Garden Grove, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Valley Memorial Crematory, 4855 W. Desert Inn Road, is handling private arrangements.

The Rev. Edwin Dziedziejko

The Rev. Edwin Dziedziejko, 49, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 2, 1952, in East Chicago, Ind. A resident for seven months, he was a priest.

He is survived by one brother, John Dziedziejko of Mount Calvary, Wis.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Mount Calvary. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Frank Engle

Frank Engle, 74, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Abilene, Kan. A resident for five years, he was retired and was a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Clara; five sons, David Engle of Fallbrook, Calif., Mark Engle of Abilene, Ted Fischer of Montpelier, Vt., David Fischer of Woodbridge, N.J., and Karl Fischer of Las Vegas; seven daughters, Joan Engle, Connie Smalley and Pamela Engle, all of Topeka, Kan., Linda Sue Fischer of Alexandria, Va., Elizabeth Cernak of Henderson, JoAnn Ortloff of Vista, Calif., and Rachel Clark of Las Vegas; and 20 grandchildren.

Neptune Society of Nevada, 3110 E. Sunset Road, Suite D, is handling private arrangements.

Thomas Hardin, 67, of Las Vegas died July 19 in Las Vegas. An Army veteran, he was born Sept. 11, 1933.

Gretchen Lynn Hood

Gretchen Lynn Hood, 32, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 20, 1969, in Newport Beach, Calif. A resident for four years, she was a medical secretary.

She is survived by her companion, Dr. Al Marashi of Las Vegas; her father, Thomas L. Hood of Huntington Beach, Calif.; her mother, Debra Garcia, and one sister, Wendy Hood, both of Paradise, Calif.

Visitation is scheduled 3-6 p.m. Saturday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Sunday in Boulder City Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd.

Julius A. Kozma

Julius A. Kozma, 85, of Henderson died Thursday in a local care center. He was born May 1, 1916, in South Bend, Ind. A resident for 51 years, he was a retired foreman at Stauffer Chemical Co. and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Sue Varner of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Helen Leanza

Helen Leanza, 80, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 30, 1921, in Waterbury, Conn. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Frank; one daughter, Valerie Leanza of Las Vegas; two sons, Robert Leanza of Edison, N.J., and Frank Leanza Jr. of Clearwater, Fla.; one sister, Lucille Leanza of Ocala, Fla.; three brothers, Dr. Samuel Correnti of Arizona, Armand Correnti of Bethesda, Pa., and Patsy Correnti of Atlantic City; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Ann Lee Mailly

Ann Lee Mailly, 94, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born March 10, 1907, in Princeton, Mo. A resident for 33 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sisters, Lora McElfish and Cora Elsey, both of Mercer, Mo.

Norwood E. 'Woody' Mallon

Norwood E. "Woody" Mallon, 78, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 15, 1922, in Iowa. A resident for 18 years, he retired as an office manager with the Rock Island Railroad after 40 years and was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; one son, James Mallon of Slater, Iowa; one daughter, Jan Blackburn of Bremerton, Wash.; two brothers, Merlyn Mallon of Watseka, Ill., and Orvis Mallon of Pekin, Ill.; one sister, Maxine Bullard of Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Griffith United Methodist Church, 1701 E. Oakey Blvd. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Roy Dale Mantle

Roy Dale Mantle, 65, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 22, 1936, in Cardin, Okla. A resident for 38 years, he was a casino floorman.

He is survived by his wife, Maryadelia; two daughters, Kathy Jo King and DeAnne McIntosh, both of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Barbara of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Ray Mantle of Las Vegas and Butch of Oklahoma City; and three grandchildren.

Burial will be in Eden Vale Memorial Park. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Hazel Cecilia Peoples

Hazel Cecilia Peoples, 86, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 2, 1914, in Illinois. A resident for 11 months, she was a furniture store owner.

She is survived by her husband, Rex; one daughter, Judy Kass; and three grandchildren.

Joan Helen Peterson

Joan Helen Peterson, 62, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 19, 1938, in Pennsylvania. A resident for seven years, she was a data entry clerk.

She is survived by two sons, James Peterson and Jerry Peterson; one daughter, Kathy Fryman; her mother, Hazel M. Enygart; two brothers, Terry Enygart and Jack Enygart; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

J. Alfred Rippetoe

J. Alfred Rippetoe, 73, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born March 18, 1927, in Missouri. A resident for seven years, he was a sales manager in the automotive industry and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Fleta; two daughters, Katy Chittick and Joy Erickson; and four grandchildren.

Kenneth Robert Shaddy

Kenneth Robert Shaddy, 75, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 4, 1926, in Nampa, Idaho. A resident for 46 years, he was a barber shop owner, appointed by six governors to serve as president of the State Barber Board, president of the National Association of Boards of Barber Examiners, and was inducted into the National Barber Hall of Fame in Columbus, Ohio, in 1993 and into the Nevada Barbers Hall of Fame in Las Vegas in 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Larry Raymond Shaddy of Carson City and Robert A. Shaddy of Las Vegas; three daughters, Kathleen Cump and Christine Neese, both of Las Vegas and Maxine Waite of Logandale; one brother, Richard R. Shaddy of Las Vegas; three sisters, Joyce M. Hightower of Oceanside, Calif., Harlene R. "Penny" Beck of Oakland, Calif., and Connie Waterson of Burley, Idaho; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Sunday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in LDS West Charleston Stake Center. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Hugh Lawrence Skelly

Hugh Lawrence Skelly, 82, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Sept. 14, 1918, in Rochester, N.Y. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired general manager for an electronics manufacturing firm, a World War II Marine Corps and Navy veteran and a member of the Henderson Rotary.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; four daughters, Martha Remis of Chicago, Kathleen Skelly of Syracuse, N.Y., Suzanne McCurdy of Colville, Wash., and Patricia Skelly of Washburn, Wis.; three sons, Hugh Skelly Jr. of Edwardsville, Ill., Kevin Skelly of Santa Fe, N.M., and T.J. Skelly of Atlanta; one stepson, Jon Tan of Taipei, Taiwan; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. services today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be private.

James S. Smith II

James S. Smith II, 50, of Las Vegas died July 28 in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 9, 1951, in California. A resident for five years, he was a vinyl installer.

He is survived by one son, James S. Smith III; and five brothers, Chris, Richard, Don, Jay and Frankie.

Michael L. Todd

Michael L. Todd, 41, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 13, 1960, in Georgia. A resident for many years, he was a real estate salesman.

He is survived by his mother, Gail Berger of Langley, S.C.

Mariah Tomlin

Mariah Tomlin, 91, of Las Vegas died July 18 in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 17, 1909.

She is survived by one nephew, Earl Thomas of Seattle.

Patricia H. Tracy

Patricia H. Tracy, 78, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born May 28, 1923, in Flushing, N.Y. A resident for 25 years, she was a travel agent, a member of Las Vegas Miniature Club and American Society of Travel Agents.

She is survived by three daughters, Christine Wall and Deborah Berger, both of Las Vegas, and Susan Hardy of Lake Stevens, Wash.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today in the little chapel at St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Burial will be in Los Angeles. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Samuel Trunzo

Samuel Trunzo, 50, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 12, 1951, in Pennsylvania. A resident for two weeks, he was a manager of human resources and a Marine Corps veteran.

Martin Franklin 'Smokey' Williams

Martin Franklin "Smokey" Williams, 76, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Golden Gate, Ill. A resident for 38 years, he was a truck driver for the Teamsters Union and a World War Army and Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; three daughters, Judy Branson of Sidney, Ill., Marsha Espinoza of Covina, Calif., and Linda Steele of Las Vegas; one sister, Ona Rice of Champaign, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 2 p.m. services Sunday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be private.
