Grant will help students

Thirty English-speaking students and six native-Spanish-speaking students Monday will begin an immersion experience at Estes McDoniel Elementary School thanks to a grant from the National Geographic Society Education Foundation.
The students from the Henderson school will participate in a variety of exercises designed to teach them more about the world around them and to help them learn the core skills of geography.

Emily Montoya received the prestigious
Emerson Electric Co. Scholarship, awarded annually to one student from Nevada. The award is a full scholarship for the eight-week camp program at the Interlochen Arts Camp, based solely on merit.
The National Federation of the Blind
presented its $3,000 E.U. Parker Scholarship to Adam Rushforth of Las Vegas, who will be a sophomore majoring in business finance at UNLV.
