Hastert fund-raiser scores $250,000

House Speaker Dennis Hastert swept through Las Vegas on Tuesday, scooping up $250,000 from the gaming industry.
Hastert, R-Ill., is friendly with gaming interests because of the prevalence of riverboat gambling in his home state.
In addition to the fund-raising for the National Republican Congressional Committee, Hastert was in town to meet with possible GOP congressional candidates Jon Porter and Lynette Boggs McDonald.
Porter, a state senator, has announced he will run for Nevada's newly-created 3rd Congressional seat against Democrat and Clark County Commission Chairman Dario Herrera.
Boggs McDonald, a Las Vegas city councilwoman, is being touted to run against Democratic incumbent Shelley Berkley in the 1st Congressional District. She attended Tuesday's events with Hastert, and although she seems poised to run, she has not yet made a final decision.
