Bernice Bowman Barrett

Bernice Bowman Barrett, 73, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born July 5, 1928, in Moselle, Miss. A resident for 37 years, she was a change girl at local pharmacies and a member of the Retired Officers Association.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Dew of Avondale, Ariz.; one son, John Peeler of Las Vegas; two stepdaughters, Galen Warzek of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Dana Barrett of Niskayuna, N.Y.; one sister, Ina Adams of Pensacola, Fla.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A nicheside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Christopher Brown

Christopher Brown, 22, of Laughlin died Thursday. A painter in the construction industry, he was born Aug. 15, 1978, in Reno.

He is survived by his father, Peter F. Brown of Laughlin; his mother, Virginia Palmer of Bullhead City, Ariz.; one brother, Theodore Brown of Radcliff, Ky.; and his two grandmothers, Juanita Tower of Reno and Muriel Brown of Teneseo, Kan.

A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Friday in American Cremation and Burial Services, 310 Foremaster Lane.

Peter J. Cis

Peter J. Cis, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 2, 1919, in Chicago. A resident for 22 years, he was a retired real estate agent, a World War II Army veteran, former governor and pilgrim of the Loyal Order of Moose and a life member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian R.; and one sister, Marie Marino of Newcastle, Pa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Shirley D. Curry

Shirley D. Curry, 69, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born April 13, 1932, in Oak Creek, Colo. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker, a member of Nellis Air Force Base Bowling League, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Poulsbo, Wash., and a volunteer at the Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, John W.; one daughter, Sherry Curry of Newark, Calif.; and one son, Scott Curry of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will be 9:20 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Doris A. Duffey

Doris A. Duffey, 70, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born July 27, 1931, in Reno. A resident for 47 years, she was a retired English and history teacher for the Clark County School District.

She is survived by one son, Brian Duffey of Prattville, Ala.; her mother, Carrie Mack of Sparks; and two grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Marian A. Fiore

Marian A. Fiore, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Fairfield, Mich. A resident for eight years, she was a retired beautician, a World War II Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Italian American Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Fiore of Las Vegas; one son, Gregory Fiore of Prescott, Ariz.; two sisters, Caroline Woodward of Cardington, Ohio, and Ruth Schultz of Gurnee, Ill.; two brothers, Albert Palms of Adrian, Mich., and Lawrence Palms of Maumee, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 8:30 a.m. until a 10:15 a.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will follow at noon Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Beatrice Gibison

Beatrice Gibison, 83, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 24, 1917, in Chicago. A resident for 56 years, she retired as a food waitress at the El Cortez in 1990.

She is survived by one niece, Jan Witlicki of Las Vegas.

American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling private arrangements.

Ralph John Glaab

Ralph John Glaab, 87, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. He was born Dec. 22, 1913, in Pittsburgh. A resident for 1 1/2 years, he was a retired from Lockheed Aircraft and a World War II and Korean War Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Grace.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Vergil Eric Hardy

Vergil Eric Hardy, 77, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 16, 1923, in Portland, Ore. A resident for nine years, he was a retired troubleshooter for Pacific Gas and Electric in California.

He is survived by his wife, Lois M.; two sons, David E. Hardy and Dana X. Hardy; two daughters, Renee L. Leo and Lori A. Dahmer; three stepsons, Norman Fontaine, Gary Fultz and Don Fultz; one brother, Eugene Hardy; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Neptune Society of Nevada, 8570 Del Webb Blvd., is handling private arrangements.

Thomas James Kelly

Thomas James Kelly, 62, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 24, 1938, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 33 years, he was a bar owner and a Korean War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Thomas Kelly of New Jersey and Danny Kelly of Las Vegas; two daughters, Kathleen Kelly of New Jersey and Colleen Kelly of Minnesota; one brother, Walt Kelly of New Jersey; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-5 p.m. Tuesday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Graveside services will be 8 a.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Richard George Kohler

Richard George Kohler, 68, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Monterey Park, Calif. A resident for 10 years, he owned a liquor store and was a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Wright of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; two sons, Kevin Kohler of Las Vegas and Christopher Kohler of Pomona, Calif.; his mother, Anita Redden of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Graveside services will be 9:20 a.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

James Clifford Ledbetter

James Clifford Ledbetter, 72, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 27, 1928, in Eufala, Okla. A resident for 45 years, he was a sales consultant for Allied & Cind-R-Lite Building Materials.

He is survived by his wife, Mary S.; two sons, James L. Ledbetter of Pahrump and Kevin Ledbetter of Tennessee; three daughters, Terry Ledbetter of California, Judy Selman of Las Vegas and Debbie Crumbly of Tennessee; one brother, Carl Ledbetter of Porterville, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be private.

Harold C. Olsen Jr.

Harold C. Olsen Jr., 57, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 3, 1943, in Massachusetts. A resident for many years, he was a bus driver.

He is survived by one daughter, Mary Olsen of Saugus, Mass.

No local services are scheduled. burial will be in Saugus. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Eston Lee Simms

Eston Lee Simms, 82, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born April 25, 1919, in Sparta, Tenn. A resident for 36 years, he was a retired schoolteacher with 22 years of service for the Clark County School District at Valley High School, a World War II Air Force pilot with combat service, a life member of Masonic Lodge 99 in Sparta, Tenn., a member of York Rite Bodies, the Zelzah Shriners Flivvers Unit, 15th Air Force Association, P-38 National Association, Retired Public Employees of Nevada, American Legion and Eastern Star.

He is survived by his wife, Emma; one daughter, Dr. Patricia C. Simms of Las Vegas; one son, William J. Simms of Louisville, Colo.; one brother, Fred Simms of Sparta; two sisters, Mary Ann Goodwin of Smithville, Tenn., and Sallye Sykes of Crossville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be noon Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

The family suggests donations to the National Parkinson Foundation Inc., 1501 Northwest Ninth Ave., Miami, FL 33136-1494.

Harry Vogele

Harry Vogele, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Hosmer, S.D. A resident for 36 years, he was a retired meat cutter and World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by four daughters, Vicki Adams of Henderson and Sheila Anderson, Sarahetta Thompson and Candice Williams, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Ruben Vogele of Glendive, Mont.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be private.
