LAUGHLIN -- Harrah's Entertainment Inc. of Las Vegas announced it's expanding the convention space at its Harrah's Laughlin Casino & Hotel.
About 10,000 square feet of convention space is being added to the west end of the casino. Once complete in mid-October, the $1.5 million expansion will give the Harrah's casino nearly 15,000 square feet of meeting space.
"There is great demand in Laughlin for conference and banquet space, and we feel this expansion will positively impact Laughlin's reputation as a convention destination," said Bill Keena, general manager of Harrah's Laughlin.
Such an expansion is significant for Laughlin's convention business. As of Dec. 31, 2000, Laughlin had a total of 92,601 square feet of convention and meeting space, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Laughlin hosted 125,448 convention visitors in 2000, a 6.5 percent increase from 1999.
