Big Vegas laundry accuses competitor of stealing business

Monday, Aug. 6, 2001 | 10:49 a.m.

Mission Industries, Las Vegas's largest industrial and commercial laundry, sued to stop a competitor from allegedly engaging in "unfair trade practices" to steal its business.

Mission, which said it has multi-year contracts with about 15 hotel-casinos in Las Vegas, sued Brady Laundry Services Inc. and Brady Linen Services LLC in Clark County District Court, alleging it lost clients after they defamed its services and solicited its clients by undercutting Mission's prices.

The suit said the defendants offered incentive programs to Mission's clients and claimed they would be charged less if they chose the defendants' services. Brady Laundry was also accused of criticizing the quality of Mission's services and persuading Mission's clients to take tours of Brady's facilities.

The suit said Brady Laundry tried to bait Mission's clients by falsely claiming to Riverside Hotel officials it had signed contracts with Harrah's Laughlin hotel-casino.

The defendants could not be reached for comment.
