Letter: Governor just doesn’t belong

As an informed resident of Clark County for more than 40 years, as a dedicated parent and grandparent, and as a hardworking teacher, my reaction to the announcement that Gov. Kenny Guinn would be named chairman of the Education Commission of the States is this: Appointing Kenny Guinn to an education commission is like letting Dan Quayle moderate a spelling bee, including Hanoi Jane (Jane Fonda) on the list of the "100 Great Women of the Century," or having Councilman Michael McDonald serve on the city's ethics board.
