Former Clark County facilities chief Bill Barrett has decided not to appeal the Nevada State Ethics Commission's June ruling he used his position to pressure his staff to work on political campaigns.
Barrett vowed to appeal the decision after the commission voted 4-1 he violated a section of the state ethics law. His attorney, Shawn Huggins, said Tuesday that Barrett simply changed his mind.
"Mr. Barrett decided not to appeal the decision even though he didn't agree with it; he wanted to put the whole matter behind him," Huggins said. "It wasn't an easy decision for him and we were certainly willing and able to move forward with it."
Barrett was reprimanded for pressuring crews to help with Clark County Commission campaigns, however, he was not penalized because the ethics board ruled his actions were not intentional.
