Teamsters prevail at Aladdin
Monday, April 30, 2001 | 10:46 a.m.
Warehouse workers at the Aladdin voted in favor of union representation in a National Labor Relations Board-supervised election Friday, making them the first group of workers at the Strip property to be represented by a union.
Fifteen workers voted in favor of representation by Teamsters Local 995, while six voted against.
Teamsters organizer Rob Rovere said no other elections are currently scheduled at Strip properties, but said Local 995 is talking with workers at Mandalay Bay, and "a couple of other properties I won't name at this time."
If Local 995 is successful in negotiating a contract with the Aladdin, the property would become the 18th on the Strip where the union has a contract. Local 995 also represents workers at Bally's/Paris Las Vegas, Caesars Palace, Circus Circus, Excalibur, Flamingo Las Vegas, Harrah's Las Vegas, Las Vegas Hilton, Luxor, Maxim, New Frontier, Riviera, Sahara, Stardust, Stratosphere, Tropicana and the Desert Inn Golf Course.
