Letter: Police ‘stings’ make roads safer
Friday, April 27, 2001 | 4:19 a.m.
I have to respond to the April 20 letter from Jan Storm regarding the new police "sting" operations.
Storm states that the new operation of police posing as homeless people is a "waste of precious resources." The waste of precious resources in Clark County are the number of people who are killed every year by reckless, inconsiderate, speeding drivers.
I am tired of watching speeders running red lights and weaving in and out of traffic only to see them right in front of me at the next light. It is time that drivers realize that the speed limits do not only apply when there is a police officer sitting on the side of the road or driving behind you.
Speed limits are the law 24/7. How many speeders would willingly break the law in any other way? I say three cheers for Metro Police for finding a way to catch more of these lawbreakers.
