Convicted killer’s sentence: four consecutive life terms
Friday, April 27, 2001 | 11:55 a.m.
A Las Vegas man convicted last month in the shooting deaths of two men was given four consecutive life terms Thursday.
District Judge Donald Mosley agreed with Chief Deputy District Attorney Ed Kane that the deaths of Eric Hamilton, 34, and Peter Limanni, 33, should be treated as separate crimes.
Mosley agreed to run John Seka's two life sentences one after the other, and because the crimes were committed with a deadly weapon, each life sentence imposed was doubled.
Seka was convicted of first-degree and second-degree murder in the 1998 deaths of Hamilton and Limanni, respectively. He was also convicted of two counts of robbery.
Seka worked for Limanni at Cinergi Air Conditioning and Heating, 1933 Western Ave. Authorities contend he killed Limanni and Hamilton at different times in different places and dumped their bodies.
Limanni disappeared Nov. 6, 1998, and police originally thought he might have killed Hamilton, whose body was found 10 days later off Las Vegas Boulevard South, just south of State Route 146.
Limanni's bullet-riddled body, however, was discovered Dec. 23 off Interstate 15 near Mountain Pass, Calif.
Seka was arrested on the murder charges in April 1999 in Philadelphia.
When a jury couldn't agree if Seka should receive the death penalty, Seka agreed to a no-parole life sentence for Hamilton's death because he didn't want to face a three-judge panel. Such panels typically impose death sentences.
It was up to Mosley however, to decide if the sentence pertaining to Limanni's death should be served at the same time as the other life sentence.
Mosley also had to decide how to run Seka's two robbery sentences of three to 13 years. He chose to run them consecutively as well.
As the hearing was wrapping up, Hamilton's sister, Michelle Hamilton, had to be led from the courtroom for an outburst.
"Die! I want you to die, you murderer!" she screamed.
