A Las Vegas subcontractor sued to recover a $695,798 payment for plumbing work done at the Aladdin hotel-casino's Aladdin Theater for the Performing Arts from Novato, Calif.-based American Insurance Co.
Hansen Mechanical Contractors Inc. sued American Insurance in Clark County District Court to recover the payment from an $11 million surety bond issued to Hansen's contractor, Korte-Bellew & Associates, after it allegedly failed to pay Hansen for the work.
Hansen said Korte-Bellew refused to pay Hansen even though the contractor has received payments from Aladdin hotel-casino's owner, Aladdin Gaming LLC.
John Kozero, American Insurance's spokesman, said: "We have begun sending a full team to investigate the matter, and Hansen's claims against our surety insured, Korte-Bellew, will be investigated."
