A subsidiary of Harrah's Entertainment Inc. filed a lawsuit Wednesday in U.S. District Court against the owners of the Stratosphere hotel-casino alleging patent infringement.
The suit seeks an injunction against the Stratosphere for the alleged violation of a patent for the "Bet Guarantee System," invented by Thomas Cook and James LoCicero and filed in 1996.
The invention is a casino management system that tracks a player's wins, losses and the casino's theoretical win and produces a ticket that rated customers can redeem for cash, credits or coins.
Stratosphere officials could not be reached for comment today.
