Denver to replace LV as basketball tourney site

Mountain West Conference athletic directors voted to hold the 2004 and 2005 conference basketball tournament in Denver.
Athletic directors and other conference officials meeting in San Diego this week voted 7-1 to hold the tournaments in the Pepsi Center. The 2002 and 2003 tournaments will be played at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Presidents of the eight Mountain West teams must approve the plan. The schools are Air Force, Brigham Young, Colorado State, UNLV, New Mexico, San Diego State, Utah and Wyoming.
Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson said the tournament would probably to return to Las Vegas at some point.
