Children's festival to be held Sunday

The Reynaldo L. Martinez Institute for Leadership and Research will hold its third annual Dia de Los Ninos, Children's Day Family Festival, noon-4 p.m. Sunday at the County Government Center Amphitheater, 500 Grand Central Parkway.

The Dia de los Ninos is a multicultural celebration that brings parents and children together for a day of fun, games, activities, cultural enrichment, educational exhibits, mascots and more.

The public is encouraged to bring picnics blankets and cameras. For more information, call 257-6020.

Public is invited to ask questions

Community Legal Forum Presentations, offered by the Clark County Bar Association, will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. daily beginning Monday and running through May 3.

Each night new topics will be discussed. Professionals from each field will be on hand to discuss the topics in each area and answer questions from the audience.

Topics that will be featured: family law, probate, wills and trusts, labor and employment law, criminal law, debtors' rights, contracts, landlord-tenant and small claims.

Provisional programs offered new members

The Junior League of Las Vegas, a women's charitable organization, is now accepting applications for the new provisional program that is being introduced this year.

The new program will consist of two provisional classes, a spring class and a winter class, with training lasting only six months.

The new program is designed to provide provisional members with an overview of the opportunities and challenges facing Southern Nevada and better acquaint members with the area's organizations, businesses, and cultural and academic institutions.

Interested women, 21 years of age or older, have until Tuesday to complete and submit an application for membership. Applications can be obtained by contacting the Junior League office at 822-6536.

Gorman to help with staging play

Congregation Ner Tamid and Bishop Gorman High School are joining together to bring the community the play "And Then They Came For Me" at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Congregation Ner Tamid, 2761 Emerson Ave.

This drama by James Still is about real people, real places and real events, utilizing videotaped testimonies of Eva Schloss and Ed Silverberg, two Holocaust survivors and actors from the Gorman High drama class.

Tickets are $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults. Proceeds will be used to foster tolerance and the arts in this community. For more information, call 733-6292.

The Armenian American Cultural Society

of Las Vegas presents the 86th Armenian Genocide Commemoration 1-3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Armenian Center, 6080 S. Jones Blvd. Dignitaries are invited and everyone else is welcome to attend. For more information, call 256-8925.
