Letter: Questions linger about college
Wednesday, April 25, 2001 | 9:14 a.m.
What's new at Pork U., also known as Henderson State College?
We have learned through the diligent efforts of Sun reporters that the Board of Regents doesn't know where the school will be built, how much it will cost, where the students will come from, if we even need it or the big problem: Where will the money come from?
With the recent downturn in the national economy and California's financial problems, Nevada state revenues will be reduced considerably. Will Nevada sharply cut state programs, greatly increase taxes or both to fund this multibillion dollar project? Why the feverish rush by the regents (except Steve Sisolak), some legislators and Gov. Kenny Guinn to push this through the current legislative session while so many vital details are in doubt?
