W.D. 'Don' Battenfield
W.D. 'Don' Battenfield, 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Gotebo, Okla. A resident for five years, he was a retired automobile salesman and a World War II Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Effie; two daughters, Lynda Alexander of Las Vegas and Peggy Scott of Fontana, Calif.; one son, Donnie Battenfield of Chico, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to noon services Monday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.
Charles F. Bethke
Charles F. Bethke, 73, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born March 15, 1928, in Dundee, Ill. A resident for 24 years, he was a retired pottery worker and a World War Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two sisters, Joyce Anderson of Paradise, Calif., and Nancy Deihs of Dundee; and one brother, Dan Bethke of Dundee.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Iris Biles
Iris Biles, 94, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born March 29, 1907, in Pennsylvania. A resident for six months, she was a schoolteacher, a member of United Methodist Women's Association, Longbranch Grange and Order of the Eastern Star-Monessen Chapter.
She is survived by three nieces, Anna Abraham of Las Vegas, Sharma Parkins of Roscoe, Pa., and Iris Schwartz of Belle Vernon, Pa.
No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Coal Center, Pa. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Bette Brown
Bette Brown, 75, of Las Vegas, died Thursday at a local hospital. She was born Dec. 11, 1925, in Missouri Valley, Iowa. She had worked 18 years at University Medical Center.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Thomas of Henderson; three brothers, Robert Kourgias of Omaha, Neb., Dick Kourgias of Missouri Valley and Dennis Kourgias of Iowa; and one grandson.
No services are planned. Neptune Society of Nevada, Green Valley, is handling arrangements.
Mary Lou Burke
Mary Lou Burke, 72, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Eagle Nest, N.M. A resident for 11 year, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons, William McClain of Clearlake, Calif., Alfred Burke of San Rafael, Calif., and Donald Burke of Vallejo, Calif.; three daughters, Karen Albracht of Las Vegas, Sharon Pelster of Oregon City, Ore., and Kathryn Keene of Oceanside, Calif.; two sisters, Carolyn Walters of Roseville, Calif., and Angelina Wing of Shingle Springs, Calif.; one brother, Earl Prochaska of Antioch, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests donations to the American Lung Association, 3375 Glen Ave., No. 7, Las Vegas, NV 89121.
Corey S. Dixon Jr.
Corey S. Dixon Jr., 30, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in West Palm Beach, Fla. A resident for 21 years, he was born Feb. 9, 1971, in West Palm Beach.
He is survived by three sons, Corey S. Dixon Jr. and DeEric Dixon, both of Las Vegas, and Antwuan T. Dixon of Riviera Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Najee L. Dixon of Las Vegas; his parents, Billie J. and Elder William McCurdy of Las Vegas and Willie and Minnie Dixion of Riviera Beach, Fla.; four brothers, Willie. J. Dixion Jr., Patrick Jenson and William McCurdy II, all of Las Vegas, and Keith Dixion of West Palm Beach; two sisters, Lashauna McCurdy Webster and Tanecia Y. Dixon, both of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, James McCurdy and Alexander and Annie Washington, both of Las Vegas, Wylie and Evelyn Logan of Palacious, Texas, and Bishop John and Bertha Alexander of Riviera Beach.
Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in Progressive Church of God in Christ, 1117 Hart Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Greater Beth El Deliverance Church of God in Christ, 976 Hassel St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.
Erwin Greene
Erwin Greene, 63, of Boulder City died Monday in Boulder City. He was born Dec. 16, 1937, in Iowa. A resident for many years, he was a handyman.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; and one son, Peter Greene of Boulder City.
Services are pending. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
John Keller Jr.
John Keller Jr., 88, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born May 7, 1912, in Russia. A resident for nine years, he was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia; one stepdaughter, Dorothy Beecher of Las Vegas; one stepson, Ron Keller of Auburn, Wash.; four sisters, Nettie Schaefer of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mollie Thomas of Rapid City, S.D., and Wilma Riezanstein and Mary Thomas, both of Scottsbluff, Neb.; two brothers, Harold Keller of Minatare, Neb., and Gerald Keller of Scottsbluff; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.
Thomas D. Miller
Thomas D. Miller, 65, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 23, 1936, in Pennsylvania. A resident for seven years, he was a packaging engineer.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; one son, Thomas Miller of Texas; one daughter, Debbie Kortesmaki of California; one sister, Helen Costa of Mexico; four grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Carol Johnson Nelson
Carol Johnson Nelson, 61, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born March 16, 1940, in Waterbury, Conn. A resident for 14 years, she was a medical transcriber, assistant secretary for the First African Methodist Episcopal Church choir and secretary at the Unity Church of the Desert.
She is survived by one daughter, Sheryl L. Johnson of Boca Raton, Fla.; one son, Jeff Johnson of Lakeworth, Fla.; two sisters, Elizabeth F. Mattingly of Bloomfield, Conn., and Gail C. Sullivan of Waterbury.
A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Erna E. O'Brien
Erna E. O'Brien, 72, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born June 23, 1928, in Bismarck, N.D. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick; three sons, Mike O'Brien and Dan O'Brien, both of San Jose, Calif., and Tom O'Brien of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; one sister, Verna Mossbrucker of Elgin, N.D.; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Florence Mary Pope
Florence Mary Pope, 59, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born May 25, 1941, in Boston. A resident for eight years, she was a PBX operator for an answering service.
She is survived by her husband, Chuck; one daughter, Ranata Villava, and two sons, Stephen McPheeters and Anthony Pope, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Marian Helgelson of Boston; and 10 grandchildren.
Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is arranging private services.
Dorothy E. Roesberry
Dorothy E. Roesberry, 67, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born June 17, 1933, in Carpenteria, Calif. A resident for 16 years, she was a homemaker and an Air Force veteran.
Visitation is scheduled 30 minutes prior to 9:30 a.m. services Wednesday in the Relief Society Room of the LDS chapel at Alta Drive and Jones Boulevard. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
Elizabeth Maud Shepard
Elizabeth Maud Shepard, 87, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born April 18, 1913, in Michigan. A resident for 21 years, she was a manager in the hotel and condominium industries and a member of the Moose.
She is survived by one son, Walter; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Anna M. Snyder
Anna M. Snyder, 71, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. A resident for 33 years, she was born Oct. 31, 1929, in Owensboro, Ky.
She is survived by one daughter, Joy Marie Barclay, and two sons, Alan Keith Snyder and Marshal Louis Snyder, all of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be private.
Henry T. Vibar
Henry T. Vibar, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A resident for 27 years, he was born May 31, 1921, in the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife, Leticia; two sons, Sandy Vibar and Edgar Vibar, both of Jersey City, N.J.; one sister, Carmen Basco of the Philippines; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday with a 4 p.m. rosary in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will be private.
