Letter: Scouting critic is showing his intolerance

In regards to the March 8 letter by Mel Lipman:
Lipman wonders why there is no outcry against endorsement of the Boy Scouts by public entities such as schools, police, etc.
Perhaps he is not aware that for over 100 years the Boy Scouts of America has promoted and instilled values into boys and young men, which the aforementioned groups find to be worthy and admirable. These include honesty, trustworthiness and love of God and country.
Sadly, these attributes have become old-fashioned and are currently "out of vogue" with many of today's citizens and leaders. A good example of this would be the booing and hissing of these young scouts at the most recent Democratic National Convention as they performed flag-bearing duties.
As is often the case with today's liberals, if a group or individual does not meet their standards they are branded as "intolerant."
Lipman, etc., all should try a little tolerance themselves.
