United Blood Services, 6930 W. Charleston Blvd., has scheduled blood drives at these locations:
Wednesday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at G.C. Wallace, 1555 S. Rainbow Blvd.; 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Las Vegas Academy, 315 S. Seventh St., and 2-7 p.m. at Guy Elementary School, 4028 La Madre Way.
Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Saturn of West Sahara, 5325, W. Sahara Ave., and Saturn of Henderson, 310 Gibson Road.

Lung association to sponsor conference
The American Lung Association of Nevada is sponsoring the 16th annual Respiratory Health Conference beginning 7:45 a.m. Thursday and Friday at the Tropicana hotel.
Timely information on current topics of interests will be presented. For more information, call 431-6333.
NCCJ to honor prominent individuals
The National Conference for Community and Justice will honor Southern Nevada's finest at the annual Community Heroes Dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Conference Center at the MGM Grand.
This year's heroes are former Sen. Richard Bryan, Las Vegas City Councilwoman Lynette Boggs McDonald, Latin Chamber of Commerce Director Otto Merida and Culinary Union Director Jim Arnold.
MGM MIRAGE will be recognized as a Corporate Community Hero.
A live auction of scholarships to Camp Anytown, a challenging program for area high school youths, will also be held.

Silvestri Middle School holds annual event
Charles A. Silvestri Junior High School will host its third annual spring festival 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the school, 1055 Silverado Ranch Blvd.
This year's theme, "Around the World in 180 Days," will be open to Silvestri parents and the community. Last year's festival was attended by more than 2,000 people.
