Camacho Jr. triumphs; LV’s Juuko defeated

Monday, April 23, 2001 | 10:21 a.m.

Hector Camacho Jr. improved to 32-0 on Sunday, stopping Larry Lacoursiere in the second round of their welterweight fight at the Santa Fe Springs Casino in Indio, Calif.

Camacho's hard right at 35 seconds of the round sent Lacoursiere down face-first. He was unconscious for 10 minutes and needed another five minutes before he could get to his feet.

Camacho is the top-ranked challenger in the WBA super lightweight division. Lacoursiere is 26-9-1.

On the undercard, Mexico's Ernesto Cepeda stopped Las Vegas' Justin Juuko in the fifth round of a featherweight bout. Cepeda was a late substitute for Las Vegas' Steve Forbes, who was scheduled to face Juuko for the IBF super featherweight title.
