Letter: Assemblywoman lowers the boom
Friday, April 20, 2001 | 10:12 a.m.
My congratulations to Assemblywoman Vonne Chowning, D-North Las Vegas, for her proposal to ban loud, booming stereos in autos!
The young people who use these amplification systems are, no doubt, already "hearing impaired." And obviously they want to inflict the rest of society with the same problem. Do you ever see any of them with their windows up? Heavens no! They aren't playing noise that loud for their benefit -- it is primarily to annoy as many others as possible!
As for this bill being a means to "harass" minority youths -- what nonsense! I see many different races of young people doing the same thing. If the shoe fits ...!
This is something that is long overdue. Again, congratulations and kudos to Chowning!
