UNLV notebook: Lady Rebels obtain top JC point guard
Thursday, April 19, 2001 | 10:09 a.m.
UNLV women's basketball coach Regina Miller has landed one of the nation's top junior college point guard prospects.
Danielle Ladd, who starred at Connors State JC in Warner, Okla., said Wednesday night that she had signed with the Lady Rebels despite scholarship offers from perennial women's basketball powers Purdue and Louisiana Tech as well as Oklahoma State and Houtson.
"The main reason was the coach," Ladd said when asked what sold her on UNLV. "To tell you the truth, the other schools negative recruited a lot. I felt that didn't show very much class. Coach Miller just gave me information about her program and didn't do any of that. I also felt comfortable with the players when I visited there last week."
