Las Vegas builder sues state

Las Vegas development company Saxton Inc., which claims its license was unlawfully revoked by the Nevada State Board of Contractors, sued to force the board to reinstate its license.
The builder, which said the board jeopardized its business when it ordered Saxton to stop construction on certain projects earlier this month, said it feared the board intended to make detailed and prolonged inquiries into Saxton's financial situation and delay or deny its application for a new license.
Saxton alleged the board had agreed to allow the builder to continue its operations in Nevada because Saxton made clear to the board it may have to seek bankruptcy protection if it were forced to stop building.
The suit said the board erroneously interpreted Nevada law when it refused to issue the new license because of complaints against predecessor companies and because of concerns about Saxton's financial situation.
The board could not be reached for comment on Saxton's allegations.
