Education Management Corp., a Pittsburgh-based publicly trade company, said it purchased the Design Institute of Las Vegas. The school will be renamed the Art Institute of Las Vegas. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The renamed Art Institute, at 4225 S. Eastern Ave., has an enrollment of about 190 students, and offers associate and bachelor's degrees in interior design, drafting technology and graphic design. Tuition runs about $8,900 per academic year.
Nancy Wolff, president of the local school, said EMC expects to expand the Las Vegas staff from 29 to 35 in the near future.
