KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. -- Universal Health Services, a big Las Vegas hospital operator, beat analysts' first-quarter earnings expectations thanks to price increases it imposed at its acute and behavioral health hospitals around the nation.
Universal said its profit rose 26 percent to $36.1 million, or $1.14 a share, from $28.6 million or 92 cents in the year-ago period.
In Las Vegas, Universal operates Valley, Summerlin and Desert Springs hospitals.
