Bradenton, Fla.-based clothing retailer Bealls Inc. plans to open its first Las Vegas discount retail outlet store in early June and hire up to 15 local workers.
Charles Boscarino, vice president of real estate for Bealls' subsidiary Bealls Outlet Stores Inc., said the 10,000 square-foot store will be called Burkes Outlet and will be at the Winterwood Pavillions shopping center at 2240 South Nellis Blvd.
He said the retailer could open up to seven more outlet stores in Nevada within the next 18 months if the first Las Vegas store is a success.
"Our stores hit a niche where the economic downturn won't affect us much. We usually buy at a price the customer finds is below department store prices by a minimum of 20 percent," Boscarino said. "People are looking for value items in a downturn economy."
