Workshop eyes art of design
A workshop that explores the Chinese art of feng shui is being hosted from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway. Participation is $20. per person.
The instructor will discuss feng shui (pronounced "fung shway"), the art of interior design and placement, and how it can benefit individuals and companies. Call 435-3814.
Free lectures set for UNLV
The UNLV School of Architecture, in partnership with Klai::Juba Architects, will host lectures, which are free and open to the public at 7 p.m. Thursday and April 26 in the Architecture Studies Library on the UNLV campus, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.
Architect Donna Kacmar, an assistant professor from the University of Houston who has won numberous design awards, will discuss her recent works on Thursday. On April 26 author Hans Ibelings, widely recognized as the pre-eminent authority of Dutch design, will discuss his recent book, "The Artificial Landscape: Contemporary Architecture, Urbanism, and Landscape Architecture in the Netherlands." Business-building seminar set
The Las Vegas Chapter of Service Corps of Retired Executives will present its next "How to Really Start Your Own Business" workshop at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Foley Federal Building, 300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Suite 1100.
The $45 cost also includes a 292-page reference manual and a workbook to help analyze your business idea. Call 388-6104.
Senior Friends plan meeting
