North Las Vegas call center unaffected so far

Webvan Group Inc.'s financial problems will not lead to any operating changes for its national call center in North Las Vegas, a company spokeswoman said today.
The web-based grocer began operating a 280,000-square-foot building in the Northport Business Center near the North Las Vegas airport in mid-January, spokeswoman Amy Nobile said.
Customer service phone calls are routed to Webvan operators in that building. The company does not offer its grocery-delivery service in the Las Vegas area.
Nobile declined to disclose the number of people working at the local building, or if any North Las Vegas jobs were expected to be cut in the near future.
The company said last September that the call center would bring 900 jobs to Southern Nevada. Nobile said that is the capacity of the building, but said the operation is not operating at capacity.
