Columnist Kate Maddox: Brad news is really the pits

And here I was all set to write a My Day With Brad entry. Unfortunately my access to the hunky Mr. Pitt was denied.

I had been invited to watch "Ocean's 11" film a scene at the Crazy Horse Too on Thursday, but just as I was re-adjusting my hems and necklines I got the call: No Brad Pitt for me. (Was it the press thing? The stalker worry? A jealous Jen?) Whatever. I will have my day with Brad. Oh, yes, I will.

Meanwhile Pitt successfully shot his stripper scene, but it was really producer Jerry Weintraub who got lucky.

In a gesture of friendship, kindness and the inevitable free publicity headed his way, Crazy Horse Too owner Rick Rizzolo decided to waive the fee for filming in his club. Hollywood biggie Weintraub was going to have to pony up around $100,000 to use the space for a day of filming -- about what the club would have earned had it been open for "real" business. Instead Rizzolo let it slide. He and Weintraub are apparently chums.

Ricky Martin plans to bring his new girlfriend to the Wednesday opening of "Storm" at Mandalay Bay. The singer's Latin libido has finally been awakened by (someone! anyone!) former model Ines Misan. The dark-haired stunner has been spotted globe-trotting with Martin for the past few months, and now the couple is headed to Vegas for the opening of Martin's pals' pet project.

And just in case you were worried about those iffy-sexuality rumors plaguing the singer, Misan put them to rest (a tad too enthusiastically if you ask me) a couple of weeks ago in the New York Post. These gems are priceless: "... on a scale of 1 to 10, I'll give him a 20," said Misan when asked how the Ricker rated in the bedroom. "He's all man," she added. And as for the Martin homosexuality question, "It's like a joke," Misan sniffed. "I wish every man were so gay."

Misan and Martin will be part of the grand opening VIP crowd on Wednesday night.

Sources tell me a June 3 opening is in the works for Shadow, the nightclub/lounge under construction at Caesars Palace. The intimate space will reportedly have some high-tech touches and cater to a "smaller, hipper" crowd. (That shouldn't be difficult, considering Shadow takes the place of the Forum Lounge. The last time that place saw hip was sometime in 1972.)

Shadow's opening will draw "the beautiful people" and one insider ventured to say "it will make V Bar look like V Barn."

Bill Maher has been tapped to host the fourth annual Tiger Jam on April 28 at Mandalay Bay. Maher will intro Jam performers John Mellencamp, Incubus and Third Eye Blind. Jennifer Love Hewitt, Steve Harris and Samuel L. Jackson are also scheduled to join Tiger Woods at the charity concert.

Morning talk show host Jeff Katz, who every Friday suffers lapses in judgment and has me on his program, celebrates his show's one-year anniversary on Tuesday. The chatty KXNT AM-840 jock will have a party in his honor at J.C. Wooloughan at the Regent Las Vegas during his show from 6-9 a.m. If you're up that early (and I will be) come by, grab some breakfast and toast Katz.

At the risk of messing my mended hairstylist relations, I have to question this business-boosting move. The William Whatley International Salon is now the place for a shampoo, cut and ... groove? Whatley has added DJs to the beauty routine. On Saturday DJ Markee of London spun for clients at the high-end salon. The music was to dye for (ba-dum-bum).
