Male Athlete of the Week: DAVID PARRISH
School: Palo Verde
Class: Senior
Sport: Golf
Last week: Parrish earned medals in three matches in a three-day period, leading the Panthers to a 3-0 start in Northwest Division play. Parrish shot a 1-under 35 Tuesday against Cheyenne at Silver Stone, then posted back-to-back rounds of 1-over 36 and 1-under 34 Wednesday and Thursday at Angel Park in victories over Mojave and Cimarron-Memorial. "He really put it all together last week," Palo Verde coach Jeff Wolfram said. "When it's all working for him, it's all working. And, he's a good senior leader for us."
Female Athlete of the Week: CRYSTAL ALSPAUGH
School: Eldorado
Class: Senior
Sport: Softball
Last week: Alspaugh tossed an eight-inning no-hitter on Thursday, lifting the Sundevils to a 2-1 win at Las Vegas in a battle for Northeast Division supremacy. The senior struck out six batters and had two hits. She also scored the game-winning run on an RBI single by April Keith in extra innings. "Her changeup was really working for her," Eldorado coach Anthony Elliott said. "She was fooling a lot of batters and keeping them off-balance with her fastball."
