Winchester center will host program
The award-winning Children's Festival, which combines recreational and cultural activities to entertain and educate children of all ages, will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Winchester Community Center and Park.
Drums of the World, Full Effect hip hop singers and dancers, steel drum players, an Elvis impersonator from the Elvis-A-Rama Museum, various music, clowns, balloon artists and others will be featured in this outdoor performing space.

Free program will feature variety of fun
American Nevada Corp., the primary developer of Green Valley, will sponsor an Easter "Eggstravaganza" 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Paseo Verde Plaza shopping center, 55 S. Valle Verde Drive.
This event is free. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Easter Eggstravaganza will feature a variety of fun activities. For more information, call 458-8855.
Birthday party set in Henderson
Southern Nevada's second annual Earth Day Birthday will be celebrated 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Morrell Park in Henderson.
The celebration is a Southern Nevada tribute to Earth Day and its more than 30 years of raising environmental awareness.

Recreation center to hold workshop
The Whitney Ranch Recreation Center will help high school students prepare for the math portion of the Scholastic Assessment Test 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at 1575 Galleria Drive.
Participation in the two-part workshop is $30 per student. Students must attend both sessions.
The workshop is sponsored by the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department.
The instructor will lead students through a complete review of all of the mathematics they need to know in order to score well on the SAT.
In addition to the review, practice problems and testing tactics will be explored. Advanced registration is recommended. For additional information, call 450-5885.
Historian Goodwin to speak Tuesday
Presidential historian and Pulitzer-Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin will speak at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Artemus Ham Concert Hall on the UNLV campus.
The event is free, but tickets are required. Tickets may be picked up at the Performing Arts Center box office at Ham Hall. For more information, call 895-2787.
Olya Roohizadegan, author
of "Olya's Story, A Survivor's Account of the Persecution of Baha'is in Revolutionary Iran" will speak 7 p.m. today and Friday at the Las Vegas Baha'i Center, 7035 W. Oakey Blvd.
