Mother of Year deadline nearing

April 16 is the deadline to submit nominations for the 2001 Clark County Mother of the Year Awards.

The 31st annual awards ceremony will be at 2 p.m. May 6 at the Gold Coast. Awards will be presented in several categories, including exemplary, motivational, inspirational, education, nurturing, community service and military.

To nominate a deserving woman, write a letter detailing her accomplishments with regard to her children and family, and her achievements in the community. List any obstacles she has had to face.

Include your name, address and phone number, as well as those of the nominee. Send the letter to Clark County Mother of the Year Awards Committee, c/o Sandy Thompson, 2275 Corporate Circle Drive, Henderson, NV 89014-7720.

Since its inception in 1970, the Clark County Mother of the Year Awards Committee, a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring "unsung heroes," has honored more than 300 women in a variety of categories.
