SUN CAPITAL BUREAU
CARSON CITY -- The Assembly passed a bill Friday that would make local governments release more information about the hundreds of lobbyists they have sent to the state capital.
Assembly Bill 326, sponsored by David Goldwater, D-Las Vegas, would require local governments to file a supplemental budget report with the state Department of Taxation to divulge lobbying expenses that are currently not reported.
Any expenses greater than $6,000 would have to be noted, including money spent on transportation, lodging and salaries of local government lobbyists in Carson City.
Goldwater said the measure would bring greater information to constituents about the expenses paid to either get legislation passed or killed.
Kathy Von Tobel, R-Las Vegas, voted against the bill, saying it did not go far enough to include state lobbyists.
