‘Austin Powers’ slot to premiere

International Game Technology said it plans to begin rolling out its "Austin Powers" slot machine in Nevada casinos as early as Tuesday, following approval by the state Gaming Control Board.
The new slot machine is based on the two "Austin Powers" movies, and is aimed at players in their 20s and early 30s, a group far younger than the typical slot machine player.
IGT said it has received more than 1,300 orders for the new video slot from casinos across North America. The company said it plans to begin introducing the slots in jurisdictions outside Nevada in May.
"With 800 (orders in Nevada), just about everyone will have it," said Ed Rogich, vice president of marketing for IGT. "There's a lot of interest, and the orders are spread over almost all the major casinos."
Since the slot is considered a program change of an existing slot, rather than a completely new machine, separate approval by the Nevada Gaming Commission is not required, Rogich said.
